Cancellation cost

Estimate what unfilled cancellations cost after savings and retained fees.

Start with your own numbers. The figures below are examples, not industry averages. Amounts are in AUD. Use one consistent tax basis; these tools do not add or calculate GST or income tax.
Cancellations in a typical month

Use cancellations and no-shows that left a real gap in your diary. This estimates an average month, so partial appointments can appear in the result.

Unit: jobs.
Refilled appointments are excluded here. Review replacement discounts separately. Unit: %.
Unit: $.
Unit: min.
What you save or recover

Only include costs you avoid when the slot stays empty. Rent and wages you still pay are not savings. Use averages for the unfilled appointments.

For example, unused materials, avoided travel and payment fees. Unit: $.
After refunds and collection fees. Count a deposit once; leave out amounts credited to a future booking. Unit: $.

Your inputs are not sent to IdleHours or saved. Refreshing or leaving this calculator clears your changes.

What’s in this result

Fixed bills and wages you still pay are not deducted from the loss. This estimates their lost funding; it does not count those bills a second time.

Refilled appointments are excluded. Their discounts and delivery costs need a separate review. The annual figure assumes every month looks the same; it is not a forecast.

Show the calculation

Unfilled cancellations = cancellations × (1 − refill rate). Contribution lost = unfilled cancellations × (usual price − avoided costs − net cancellation fee retained). Annual illustration = monthly loss × 12.
